Within learning, there is inspiration.
During my senior year of school at University of Wisconsin-Stout, I created Swivel as my senior thesis project.
Swivel is a learning service that believes every kid should find something that inspires them within their education. By providing hands-on, collaborative projects based on different subjects and taking them outside of the school setting, Swivel aims to help kids find something that inspires them.
Swivel is a name that implies movement. It is playful, fun, and kinetic—all words that describe the brand. These words can also be applied to the overall brand identity. Swivel functions with a flexible identity system, including four main logos, a logotype, a color palette, and a pre-determined type system.
Each poster in the set of four represents one aspect of the service. The teal poster represents the mission statement, while the yellow describes what the service is. The purple describes the design thinking and user interaction, and the final red-orange poster describes the ecosystem of the service.
The Swivel Into Inspiration advertising campaign is the first campaign launched by Swivel, and is a method of getting the word out about the service. The campaign includes print advertisements that will be featured in magazines such as Good Housekeeping due to the lifestyle nature of the magazine and as a way to reach the parents.
Swivel also receives advertising from its Swivel shindig events in which sponsors like museums, schools, or libraries can host a community event where kids can get together and create projects with a larger group of Swivel users. Shindigs can also be hosted as smaller individual parties at home.
